SYNOPSIS: The Awakening is a coming of age—true story that starts out with a young boy who is ripped from his home at the age of 13 and sent away for a year after his parents divorce. From there a devastating set of events happens as the story unfolds of two young teenage boys facing adversity and tragedy. Overcoming the death of his best friend under tragic circumstances, only to walk in and find his mother dead just two short years later is the real life story of playwright, author & speaker Glenn Grant illuminated on the stage as he connects deeply with audience members who can see themselves struggling with their own unique journey through life. Judging by our recent reviews, our Spoken Word Musical connects with them at a very deep level emotionally as it takes a forensic look at the lives of at risk children coming from broken homes and their journey to survive.

With the help of our dynamic young actors, we tell a real life story of being bonded as a child, tragedy and survival that ultimately leads to building a better life. Never have we seen a theatrical play that is part rock concert as the live music and songs help tell the narrative of these stories that so many people can relate to backed up by motivational-inspirational speaker Glenn Grant as he illuminates the power of personal development that can change a persons life.
At the intersection of performing arts for social impact, we have created a meaningful artistic experiences through our Spoken Word Musical, The Awakening. The show helps ignite potential and drives uncommon self-awareness—the resulting bold community engagement with at risk populations attending our event creates a unique opportunity to reach and help people.
This is the first step towards awakening people to the potential they have while also arming them with critical awareness and information so they can take the first steps at creating a better life. Many wonderful musicals from Rent, to Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Jersey Boys to name just a few are incredible in their ability to entertain and showcase the performing arts. But our show, delivers the heavy messages and real life stories wrapped around fantastic live music and acting to provide the wake up call needed.

The result: a performance that feels like both a concert and a confession, where the audience doesn’t just watch they feel.

Through intersecting stories of love, loss, identity, and rebirth, THE AWAKENING explores the sound of resilience how the heart keeps its rhythm even when the world goes silent. It’s a meditation on memory and movement; a modern opera of voice, rhythm, and revelation.
